The nature of being a digital marketing person means, as the profession's name would seemingly imply, that I spend a lot of time on the computer, surfing the web, reading blogs and countless of e-mail newsletters to keep up with all things web 2.0.
Down times
During down times when I purposefully ignore all things digital — which is incredibly refreshing and allows my brains to recharge — I'm actually a the biggest home body that likes to do really "non-cool" stuff like cook (see below) and holy toledo ... even sew. Yes, sew! What can I say? Blame my beloved grand-mama who taught me how to sew years and years ago. I'm hardly a professional seamstress but I can at least turn the sewing machine on. That's a start, right???
I love cooking ... when I'm in the mood to cook
I've been authoring a cook book like *forever.* You know, it's one of those projects that you work on once or twice in a year. Yeah, well this cook book project of mine has been in the works for at least 10 years, give or take! I know I'll get there someday ... but boy, in between cook book project work, I get to test out my yummy recipes. Not a bad past time, eh?

You can always see what I'm whiping up in my kitchen here.
Antiques, vintage stuff and collectibles
I like to collect things...mostly knick knacks at flea markets and area yard sales. Things that call my attention include old vintage books, old cloth rag dolls, vintage fabrics, Victorian-era postcards and other old memorabilia.

I've tried hard to kick this old junk habit but it's a waste of time. I just really have a thing for vintage things and stuff from the 1800s really steals my heart. The older and more beat up, the better. This is something my husband can't quite understand but that's OK. I forgive him (smile).
Home decor
I admit I don't get to decorate often. So what's the next best thing? That would be sticking my nose in tons of home decorating books; usually ones that incorporate flea market finds into more modern settings.

There are other things but ...
...for the most part, what I've share here about my non-marketing life should really paint a pretty solid picture of who I am, some of my interests and what I do when I'm offline.
Overall, I'm just a city girl who moved to the suburbs...and then moved from the suburbs to the countrysides of beautiful West Virginia.
I enjoy life in the Eastern Panhandle and feel super lucky to have gorgeous farms, wineries and endless mountain sides nearby. What can I say??? Country living with city life in Washington DC just a little over an hour away seems to be the perfect combo for me at this point in my life.
Who knows where tomorrow will take me but for now — at this moment — life's good.
